Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role maintains payroll records, administers payroll-related transactions, responds to client and employee inquiries, and collaborates with Human Resources and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy and confidentiality.

Hours

Our office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm (Fridays during the summer the office is closed). Flexible scheduling is available after an introductory period depending on the candidate. This position can be a full-time or part-time position depending on the right candidate. Full-time hours are 40 minimum per week (36 in summer), with additional hours required during tax season.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Review time records and leave balances.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee changes.
  • Reconcile payroll and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare payroll reports and support accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws.
  • Assist with year-end processing including W-2s.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Support payroll audits and process improvements.

Education and Skills Requirement:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll laws and taxes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process client payroll and prepare quarterly and annual tax reports
  • Prepare and file sales tax reports
  • Prepare bank and credit card account reconciliations
  • Record daily financial transactions
  • Manage client payables and receivables
  • Assist clients with questions and troubleshooting software
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Review client-prepared financial statements and propose adjusting entries
  • Prepare individual and business tax returns
  • Assist with Tax Planning

Education and Skills Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in accounting with prior work experience will be considered.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Comfortable working across multiple software platforms and with digital documentation.

Tax Intern

Position Description

Gain hands on experience while preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and C-corporations. The tax intern will develop an understanding of the entire tax return preparation process from gathering client information to assembling the final return, using the latest technology in the industry. The tax intern will be an integral member of the team working closely with experienced staff, managers, and partners – all with specialized experience and technical knowledge across various industries and service offerings. This position will provide the student with a general understanding of what working in a CPA firm has to offer and will aid the student when making career decisions. This position will require an individual who is self-motivated and willing to learn. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Hours: Our office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a full-time position for January — April 15, 2028. Additional hours are available dependent on your availability.
